Lumped Elements

With version 6.6 the µWave Wizard contains a new library which supports lumped elements. Three typical lumped elements (L, C and R)are part of this library and allow to built up networks with discrete elements. Circuit with lumped elements cannot contain waveguide elements. But a lumped element circuit can be connected as a subcircuit by the fundamental mode with other waveguide components or waveguide circuits. This is of interest for optimization of complex structures by using waveguide components and representing networks for different kind of filters for example. The representing networks will be replaced step by step through real waveguide circuits during the design process up to the final design. The figure shows the connection of a rectangular t-junction with a lowpass and highpass filter, both realized by circuits which contain lumped elements.
